Formafantasma’s SuperWire is born from the designers’ experimentation with the illuminating filament of LED bulbs. By manipulating its flexibility and aesthetic presence, the Italian design studio has created a collection of modular lamps that brilliantly merge an industrial attitude with timeless design codes.
A Timeless Lamp for the Future
The collection includes table, suspension, and floor models. Each lamp features a striking hexagonal base constructed from planar glass panels connected by polished aluminium elements.
At the core of the design is the illumination itself: a thin, flat, and flexible LED strip, custom-developed by FLOS to measure up to one metre in length. This bespoke light source creates an ethereal, floating filament of light that seems to dissolve into the glass when illuminated.
High Technology and Sustainability
SuperWire is not merely an aesthetic triumph; it is a manifestation of Formafantasma’s core philosophy, which combines a poetic, research-driven aesthetic with profound environmental commitment.
The collection is a rare and vital example of modern lighting design where the LED light source is entirely independent of the structural chassis. This custom-developed LED strip can be easily removed for replacement and repair by the user—a unique innovation in LED bulb-less lamp design that combats planned obsolescence and champions a circular economy.

The Collection
The SuperWire family is designed to adapt to a variety of spatial requirements, carrying its signature hexagonal geometry across three distinct typologies.
SuperWire Suspension
The suspension models bring the ethereal filaments into the air. In addition to the warm, diffuse glow of the vertical modules that wash the surrounding space, the suspension variant features a concealed downlight module. This provides functional, glare-free accent lighting directly onto dining or meeting tables, making it a perfect hybrid of decorative atmosphere and architectural utility.
SuperWire Floor
The floor lamp consists of two majestic 75 cm modules stacked vertically on a sturdy steel tripod. The design is a respectful, modern nod to the iconic Luminator floor lamp created by the Castiglioni brothers in 1954, reimagined through the lens of Formafantasma's material exploration.
SuperWire Table
The table lamp distils the complex geometry into a single, elegant unit. It is composed of a single 45 cm vertical module topped with a hexagonal glass cover, anchoring desks or side tables with its structured yet transparent presence.
