The Vision

Best known for designing the London 2012 Olympic Torch, Barber & Osgerby created a modern icon for FLOS with the 'Bellhop'. Originally designed for the London Design Museum restaurant, this portable, rechargeable lamp acts like a 'modern candle'. Their work is characterized by friendly forms, tactile materials, and a focus on how people move and interact with light in a flexible, wireless world.

Bellhop Bollard

Bollard

A polite pathfinder. The Bellhop Bollard brings the iconic shape down to knee height. It casts a gentle, non-glaring pool of light on the ground, guiding visitors along paths with the courtesy of a hotel porter.

Bellhop Floor

Bellhop Floor

Floor

An eccentric uplighter. The Bellhop Floor flips the concept of the portable Bellhop lamp upside down. With a concrete base and an opal glass shade, it casts a soft, atmospheric light upwards, acting as a sculptural presence in the corner of a room.

The Bellhop ascends. This ceiling-mounted version takes the beloved bell shape and renders it in triplex opaline glass. It provides a clean, diffused light that washes the ceiling and the room, bringing a touch of modern hospitality to any overhead space.

The evolution of a modern classic. The Bellhop, originally a small portable lamp, expands into a large-scale glass pendant. The triplex opaline glass diffuser floats in space, emitting a soft, atmospheric glow that retains the friendly, bell-like silhouette of its predecessor.

Pole Top

The Bellhop grows up. This pole-mounted version takes the beloved mushroom shape and elevates it to street-lamp height. It creates pools of soft, downward light, bringing a residential warmth to public squares, parks, and large gardens.

Bellhop Wall

Bellhop Wall

Wall/Ceiling

The Bellhop climbs the wall. This surface-mounted version retains the friendly, rounded geometry of the Bellhop family. It casts a soft, diffused glow outwards, acting as a welcoming beacon on exterior walls and terraces.

Bellhop Wall Up

Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby

Bellhop Wall Up

Wall/Ceiling

A splash of color on the wall. Bellhop Wall Up retains the colorful, robust character of the portable lamp but directs its energy upwards. Utilizing advanced optics, it throws a powerful wash of indirect light onto the ceiling, expanding the sense of space.

Folded precision. The Tab lamp looks like a simple sketch brought to life. A folded aluminum shade protects the eye from the light source, casting a crisp, directional beam. It is a study in material efficiency and clean lines.
