The Vision

Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin of Formafantasma are rethinking the ethics of design. For FLOS, they transformed the humble power cable into a sculpture. 'WireRing' and 'WireLine' use the electrical cable as a structural, aesthetic belt that holds the light source. Their work is a rigorous investigation into materials and sustainability, stripping the lamp down to its absolute bare necessity—the transmission of energy.

A hexagonal cloud of glass. SuperWire suspension combines vertical glowing filaments with a concealed downlight. It offers a unique duality: a decorative, ethereal presence in the room, and a functional, focused light on the table below.

Light dissolved in glass. SuperWire is a modular masterpiece where the light source is a thin filament seamlessly embedded within planar glass sheets. It creates a ghostly, ethereal glow that seems to emanate from the material itself, blurring the line between technology and object.

A rubber ribbon of light. Wireline celebrates the power cable by flattening it into a wide rubber belt that holds a glass lighting tube. It hangs like a hammock or a trapeze, blurring the line between industrial design and artistic installation.
